Risk Assesment

The children's first view of the Ring Fort over the lake.

After a game to set the scene after their journey they are split into 3 groups for the activities.
1. Animals & Textiles      2. Cooking         3. Pottery                   (Groups rotated)

After lunch;
A nature walk and feeding the sheep.
1. Trying on chain-mail  2. Archery  3. Shop, drinking horn, blowing horn and who can hold the sword for the longest?

Combat display, funeral, story, games.

Most Schools arrive around 9.30-10.00am and leave 2.00-2.30pm

 

Throwing balls at your friends is great fun, so is trying to block it with a shield!
 

Animals and textiles of the Saxons and Vikings

Preparing and cooking oat-cakes with honey
   

   

Pottery - They even get to take their creation home for Mum!
             

Oar wrestling - Hold on, pull hard and lift your opponent off the ground!

Nature walk. Introduction to trees, plants and animals of the Dark Ages

Rare breed Wiltshire Horn sheep, never need shearing!
